Chromium

In the 1950s, researchers identified the role of chromium in insulin and glucose control. The relationship between PCOS and insulin resistance provides grounding for the use of chromium for treating PCOS. A small study found that 200ug per day of chromium picolinate appears to improve glucose tolerance but not ovulatory frequency in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (Lucidi et al, 2005). Larger studies are probably needed to investigate the potential benefits of chromium supplements for PCOS.
