Metformin

Many women with PCOS are already taking metformin, or Glucophage, to manage their insulin resistance. If you are not already taking this drug, it may be time to discuss it with your physician. Metformin is a diabetes medication that helps the human body process insulin and glucose in a healthier manner. In addition, it reduces the production of testosterone. Several studies have found that these two effects help women with PCOS to lose weight more easily, especially if they are currently obese. Metformin often helps not just with weight loss, but with many of the symptoms of PCOS.
