Dessert: German Chocolate Cake Cookies

Recipe by Candace Braun Davison Can't find a German chocolate cake mix in the store? Nobody will complain if you use a chocolate or devil's food cake mix.

Ingredients

1 box German chocolate cake mix (or regular chocolate cake mix)
1/3 c. Vegetable or canola oil
2 eggs

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 °F.
For the chocolate cookies: Pour the cake mix, oil and eggs into a large mixing bowl, stirring until combined. Spoon 1-inch balls of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes. Set aside to cool for at least 10-15 minutes before adding the frosting topping.
For the caramel-coconut frosting: Combine caramel sauce, coconut flakes and pecans in a small bowl. Top each cookie with a spoonful of frosting. Lightly sprinkle the caramel with salt, if you'd like a salted-caramel flavor (optional).
