Dessert: Kids' Chocolate Peanut Butter Birthday Cake

Ingredients

6 tbsp. butter or margarine
4 squares unsweetened baking chocolate
1 box confectioners' sugar
1/4 c. Unsweetened cocoa powder
.67 c. sour cream
2 tsp. vanilla extract
.13 tsp. salt
1/2 c. creamy or chunky peanut butter
1/2 c. marshmallow cream
1/4 c. milk
Multicolor nonpareils
White icing or gel

Instructions

For frosting, melt butter and chocolate over very low heat; cool to room temperature. Stir cocoa, sour cream, vanilla, and salt into confectioners' sugar, then beat in chocolate (3 cups).
Beat filling ingredients until blended.
To assemble cake: Slice cake layers in half horizontally. Place one layer on serving plate; spread with half of the peanut filling. Top with second layer; spread with 3/4 cup chocolate frosting. Top with third layer; spread with remaining filling. Top with final layer and frost cake. 4. For decorations, place a star-shaped cookie cutter on cake. Spoon enough nonpareils into center of cookie cutter to make a single layer of sprinkles; gently press into frosting. Remove cutter and outline star with white icing. Makes 16 servings.
