Lunch: All-American Hamburger
Recipe by Donald Link These classic burgers are a great main-dish option at your big Fourth of July party, or at any other backyard barbecue or cookout.
Ingredients
2 slice white bread
1/4 c. whole milk
2 lb. ground meat
1 small onion
1 tomato
1/2 head iceberg lettuce
6 slice good deli-style American cheese
6 Hamburger buns
Salt and pepper (or some sort of spice mix like Tony Chachere's)
Instructions
Soak the torn white bread in the milk. Mix the ground meat and soaked bread together and form into 6 hamburger patties.
Prepare a tray for the grill of sliced onion, lettuce, tomato, and cheese.
Grill the patties on a hot grill for about 4 minutes on each side. Season each side of the hamburger with salt and pepper, or some Tony Chachere's seasoning.
Toast the buns. When the meat is almost finished, lay a piece of cheese on each patty and let the cheese melt. Assemble your hamburgers as you like with the lettuce, tomato, and onion.
