Lunch: Candy Bark

Recipe by Woman's Day Kitchen Homemade candy bark is a guaranteed winner with the whole family and, bonus, is a great way to use up leftover Halloween candy.

Ingredients

48 unsalted saltine crackers
3/4 c. unsalted butter
1 1/2 c. packed light brown sugar
16 oz. semisweet chocolate chips
Assorted Halloween candy

Instructions

Line a large rimmed baking sheet (11 1/2- by 16 1/2 inches) with nonstick foil and arrange 48 unsalted saltine crackers in a single layer over the bottom of the pan. Melt 3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter and 1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar in a medium pot over low heat. Increase the heat to medium and bring to a boil. Pour the sugar mixture evenly over the crackers, then bake at 350 degrees F until deep golden brown, 12 to 15 minutes.
Immediately scatter chocolate chips in an even layer on top; let sit for 2 minutes, then spread it to cover the caramel. While the chocolate is warm, scatter desired candies (such as crushed Jolly Ranchers or Pop Rocks; chopped Snickers, Twix, Milky Way, or Kit Kat bars) over the top and let set. Cut into pieces before serving.
