Snack: Turkey Cheese Dip

Recipe by Candace Braun Davison Serve the bread you tore out of the bread bowl for dipping, along with crackers and celery, until you've eaten enough to tear into the bowl itself.

Ingredients

2 1/2 c. shredded Colby-Jack cheese, plus more for topping
2 tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 onion, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
1 c. mayonnaise
1 c. diced turkey
1 round loaf sourdough bread
1/2 bunch chives, diced (for garnish; optional)

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 °F. As it heats, mix the cheeses, onion, garlic, mayonnaise and turkey together in a large mixing bowl until just combined. Set aside.
Carve the top of the sourdough bread off using a serrated knife, being careful not to cut through to the bottom of the loaf. Pull off the piece of bread, creating a 'lid' to the dip, and use your hands to tear out the inside of the bread, forming a bowl.
Pour the dip into the bread bowl. Top with additional shredded Colby-Jack cheese and a light sprinkle of chives. Place in the oven for 20 minutes, or until the cheese on top has melted and turned a light, golden brown.
Chop the bread bowl 'lid' and pieces you tore out of the bowl into bite-sized bits. Serve alongside the dip.
