Health and fertility benefits of Smoked Turkey Kielbasa Dogs with Red Onion Sauce
Cinnamon is one of the best ingredients that someone with insulin sensitivity can eat. Half a teaspoon of cinnamon per day has been shown to be very effective at normalizing blood sugar levels. Cinnamon contains hydroxychalcone, which is thought to enhance the effects of insulin. It has also been suggested that Cinnamon prevents post-meal blood sugar spikes by slowing the gastric emptying rate - meaning that food digests slowly. Ingredients
2 tablespoons canola oil
2 Spanish onions, minced
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup ketchup
Dash of hot sauce
Pinch of ground cinnamon
Instructions
For the red onion sauce: Heat a medium skillet over medium heat with the canola oil. Add the onions, sprinkle with salt and pepper and saute until softened and translucent, about 8 minutes. Add the ketchup, hot sauce, cinnamon and 1/4 cup water and simmer until the liquid is half reduced, about 10 minutes more.
For the turkey kielbasa: Oil a grill pan over medium heat and add the kielbasa. Brown on all sides, 5 to 8 minutes, and remove from the heat. Serve the kielbasa on hot dog rolls topped with the sauerkraut, red onion sauce and yellow mustard.
