Dessert: Creepy Red Velvet Cake
Red velvet cake is already the perfect Halloween treat! Let homemade chocolate syrup drip down the sides of the cake for an even spookier look.
Ingredients
1 package cream cheese
4 tbsp. butter or margarine
1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
2 Red Velvet Cake layers
12 oz. bittersweet chocolate
1/2 c. light corn syrup
2 tbsp. dark rum
2 tbsp. water
1/4 tsp. salt
Instructions
In large bowl, with mixer on medium-high speed, beat cream cheese, butter, and confectioners' sugar until smooth and fluffy. Place 1 cake layer on cake plate; spread top with frosting. Place other cake layer on top.
In 3-quart saucepan, heat corn syrup, rum, water, and salt to boiling, stirring. Remove from heat; stir in chocolate until smooth.
Pour chocolate glaze over cake and let drip down sides.
