Grapefruits are rich in folic acid. One grapefruit will give you 8% of your daily needs of folic acid.

Ingredients

2 ounces Plymouth gin
3/4 ounce cranberry juice
3/4 ounce Brown Sugar Syrup, recipe follows
3/4 ounce earthy cabernet wine
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
1 drop lavender bitters
Ice, for shaking
1 piece grapefruit peel, for garnish

Instructions

Combine the gin, cranberry juice, Brown Sugar Syrup, wine, lime juice and bitters in a metal cocktail shaker and top with ice. Shake vigorously, and then strain into a chilled coupe glass. Over the coupe glass, spritz the peel in front of a lit match to flame. Slide the flamed peel into the drink to garnish.

In small skillet, bring the sugar and 1/2 cup water to a boil. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature before bottling for later use.
