Lunch: Family Pizza Dough

Recipe by Donald Link Making pizza dough is a great family activity and a simple way to get everyone together in the kitchen. To put the finishing touch on this family dinner, try Chef Donald Link's recipe for Sunday Tomato Sauce.

Ingredients

1 tbsp. yeast
1 c. lukewarm water
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tbsp. Extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp. salt

Instructions

Add yeast to the lukewarm water and let sit for 5 minutes until water looks foamy or cloudy.
On a smooth counter, place flour in a pile and make a 6-inch well in the middle making walls around the center. Pour the water in the center of the well with the olive oil and salt. With a fork gradually whisk in the flour to the water forming a dough, when the water is incorporated begin to knead this to form a smooth elastic ball of dough.
Place the dough into a lightly oiled mixing bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Put somewhere warm for about 1 hour to let rise.
After the dough rises form the dough into golf ball size balls for small pizzas and baseball size for larger pizzas by flattening the dough and spreading it with your fingertips. Then pick it up and gently let the dough hang as you move your fingers around the edges. See all recipes and cooking videos from Chef Donald Link.
