Health and fertility benefits of Cranberry Sauce with Pears

Researchers believe that cranberries contain substances that prevent infection-causing bacteria from sticking to the urinary tract walls. However, store-bought cranberry juice is typically all sugar - so make sure to stick with straight cranberries.

Ingredients

1 lb. cranberries
1 pear
2 tsp. grated orange zest
2/3 c. granulated sugar
1 c. apple cider or juice

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, pear, orange zest, and sugar; stir in the apple cider.
Bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens, 15 to 20 minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
