Lunch: Savannah Bow Ties

A fancy cookie dessert that has an almond filling and is dipped in chocolate sauce.

Ingredients

2 teaspoons milk
1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2 egg yolks, divided, reserve 1 white
1/2 cup almond paste
1/2 (17.25 oz) package frozen puff pastry, (1 sheet)
1 egg white
3/4 cup sugar, plus more for sprinkling
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
6 (1.5 oz) bars milk chocolate
2 cups whipping cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

Let pastry stand at room temperature for 20 minutes or until easy to roll. Unfold pastry on a lightly floured surface. Roll into a 14-inch square. Cut square in half with a fluted pastry wheel.
