Dinner: Betty's Creamy Caramel Syrup
Betty demonstrates how to make Caramel Syrup. This is a luscious, golden syrup to use on top of sundaes, angel food cake, pancakes, waffles, and many more great dishes. Creamy Caramel Syrup ½ cup butter, melted 1 cup sugar 1 teaspoon lemon juice ¾ cup heavy whipping cream Place ½ cup melted butter in heavy skillet or saucepan. Add 1 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon lemon juice. Stir until combined. Heat mixture on stove over medium heat 5 to 6 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove mixture from heat when it begins to thicken. Slowly add ¾ cup heavy whipping cream and return to the stove over medium heat. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring constantly until syrup is golden. Serve hot, warm, or store (covered) in the refrigerator after cooling. This syrup will be good for 1 week, refrigerated.
