Health and fertility benefits of Whole Wheat Walnut Bread

Nuts are a natural source of Inositol, a derivative of Vitamin B (which is often prescribed in the form of supplements for women with PCOS). Inositol can effectively control the symptoms of PCOS by reducing insulin resistance and improving insulin sensitivity. Walnuts are low on the glycemic index. What’s more, they also lower the glycemic index of other foods that you eat in conjunction with these nuts. Any kind of nuts provide a healthy source of fat and a great way to encourage PCOS weight loss.

Ingredients

2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup white wheat flour
2 tsps sugar
1/4 tsp active dry yeast
1 tsp salt
1 large egg
1/4 cup hulled dry roasted sunflower seed kernels
1/2 cup walnuts

1. Make a yeast dough, with all ingredients except the sunflower seeds. Rest for 10 minutes. Shape and let rise until doubled (about 1 hour).

2. Brush with egg wash, decorate with Sunflower seeds, or any other seeds you may like (pumpkin seeds etc.).

3. Bake at 350 °F (175 °C) for about 1 hour on center rack.
