Broccoli is one of the non-starchy vegetables that has a very low glycemic index (GI), which is beneficial for reducing blood sugar levels. Broccoli is also a source of DIM (Diindolymethane). Diindolymethane is very effective in reducing the testosterone levels in the body, an action that would automatically curb male dominant features and regulate the estrogen levels in the system.

Ingredients

2 cups uncooked whole wheat penne pasta
2 cups fresh broccoli florets
1 cup fat-free milk
1 package (6-1/2 ounces) reduced-fat garlic-herb spreadable cheese
1 cup cubed fully cooked ham
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Instructions

In a large saucepan, cook penne according to package directions, adding broccoli during the last 5 minutes of cooking; drain. Remove and set aside.
In the same pan, combine milk and spreadable cheese. Cook and stir over medium heat for 3-5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Add the ham, pepper and penne mixture; heat through.
